Corporate Responsibility Case Competition by HEC Montreal MBA Student Association

Application due Jan 20, 2018, Competition on Feb.16-17, 2018
The ninth edition of the HEC Montréal Case Challenge is a great opportunity for MBA students around the world to apply analytical skills to a current corporate responsibility issue and find original and practical solutions. Teams will present their recommendations to a panel of judges, which will include senior executives from leading international corporations.

Teams must submit their applications before January 20th, 2018. The number of participants is limited and will be selected on a first-come first-served basis. Multiple teams from the same school are accepted. Team registration fees submitted before December 1st, 2017 are $450 CAD per team. After this date, the registration fees increase to $550 CAD. Join LHCC and members of the HBS community for this interesting and relevant panel on the future of people analytics. Panelists will share their perspective on people analytics and provide an overview of how their organizations are using data to drive people-related decisions. Panelists include: Kate Gulliver (VP of Talent Operations, Wayfair), Becky McCullough (Director of Recruiting, HubSpot), and Michael Metzger (Senior Managing Director Recruitment and Admissions Strategy, Teach for America). Following the panel, there will be a reception for panelists and students in the Spangler Grille Game Room (4:45 pm – 6 pm).

Zuckerman Fellows Program Info Session

Are you interested in making your impact in education or public health?  Pursue a master’s degree at the Harvard Graduate School of Education or Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health for free through the Zuckerman Fellows Program. The Zuckerman Fellows Program, run out of the Center for Public Leadership at the Harvard Kennedy School, equips people from the fields of medicine (including dental), law, and business to provide leadership for the common good by making it possible for them to pursue public service degrees at HGSE, Harvard Chan, and the Harvard Kennedy School. The Zuckerman Fellowship provides recipients with full tuition and health insurance fees for one year plus a living stipend, in addition to a robust co-curricular leadership development program for each cohort of fellows.

The first book will be Conscious Capitalism(Written by Whole Foods founder John Mackey & Rajendra Sisoda, the book discusses the idea of "conscious capitalism" or businesses that serve the interests of all major stakeholders—customers, employees, investors, communities, suppliers, and the environment.).

Fireside Chat with Sally Jewell, former CEO of REI and Secretary of the Interior

Join us for an engaging conversation about business & society with Sally Jewell.  She is currently a fellow at the Institute of Politics at HKS, and we are particularly excited to hear about her cross-sector experience as a business executive and public servant. Come with questions!

Most recently, Jewell served as the U.S. Secretary of the Interior where she focused on long-term sustainability and conservation.  Prior to serving on President Obama’s cabinet, Jewell was President and CEO of REI, a $2.6 billion retailer dedicated to facilitating outdoor adventures.  Prior to REI, she served 19 years in commercial banking across a wide-range of industries, and began her career as an engineer in the energy industry.
